Clariant claims FR breakthrough

The products are based on an application of phosphorus and nitrogen, can be used with existing equipment and contain nothing restricted by Oeko-Tex standards. In addition, they will have a low impact on the strength of any fabric to which they are applied.
On announcing the development, the head of the company’s textile business unit, Thomas Winkler, commented: “When we were examining the methods currently in use for creating FR textiles, we knew we had to move away from the traditional methods and get rid of any formaldehyde emissions.”
Clariant said the Pekoflan system would be especially suited ot cotton and cotton-rich blends.
