Vaude CEO awarded Medal of Business
Antje von Dewitz, CEO of German sports and outdoor company Vaude Sport, was awarded the Wirtschaftsmedaille (Medal of Business) on 28 September, 2011, for her outstanding services to the industry in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
The head of department in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Finance and Economics, Daniel Rousta, awarded the medal in recognition of outstanding professional or business achievements and in appreciation of special services to the economy of the state. Eleven business people were honoured in Stuttgart, with the medal bearing the words, “Wirtschaftsmedaille des Landes Baden-Württemberg.”
During the ceremony, the achievements of these business personalities were praised as making an important contribution to the economic strength of the state of Baden Württemberg.
In the personal laudation of Antje von Dewitz, the social and ecological commitment shown by the businesswoman was specially emphasised. “You were one of the first to recognise that, as a company with products that accompany people as they explore nature and the outdoors, the preservation of this nature and the environment is particularly important,” said the Minister of Finance and Economics, Dr. Nils Schmid. “Consequently in 2008, Vaude was the first outdoor company in the industry to receive EMAS certification under the conditions established by the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).”
Ms von Dewitz’s work in promoting equal opportunities at the workplace, reconciling family and working life, and demonstrating social commitment on a local as well as global level also received much praise and admiration.
Ms von Dewitz was accompanied by her family and members of Vaude management. “This award is a great honour for me and a sign of appreciation for the sustainable path Vaude has chosen to take,” she said.
