China anti-dumping measures could affect nylon prices

Global nylon prices could be affected by an announcement from China's ministry of commerce that the country will impose an anti-dumping measures on imports from the European Union and the US of caprolactam, the organic compound used to make nylon 6.

Official news sources in China made the announcement, saying the ministry had taken its decision after a six-month investigation, which concluded that Chinese producers of caprolactam were suffering because textile producers could source the compound for lower prices overseas.

Producers of the compound in Europe and the US face will now face duties of between 2.3% and 25.5% if they want to export to textile manufacturers in China.
