Women’s athletic socks on the up

Consumer research group NPD has reported that the women’s segment of sportswear and sporting goods in the US grew 16% in 2010, and included in the increase are women’s athletic socks.

 

“While the number of girls and women participating in sports have continued to increase, many programs are looking for unique methods of accessorising to add a novel look to their existing uniforms,” said Frank Milligan, president, the She Plays Sports Group. “Creatively appealing items like colourful, active-design sports socks have provided an economic answer particularly for youth and scholastic sports team programs.”
