Nike unveils new NFL uniforms
Sports brand Nike has unveiled its new designs for the uniforms that all 32 National Football League (NFL) teams will wear next season. The NFL is the top American football league in the world.
All 32 teams will have versions in their own colours of the Nike Elite 51 uniform. The number 51 is a reference to the shirt Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman wore when he played the sport at the University of Oregon in the 1930s.
Technology that Nike has incorporated into the Elite 51 system includes lighter weight in the jersey and pants, proprietary Flywire technology to eliminate layers, zoned mesh ventilation, high-tenacity stretch material in particular areas, hydrophobic material with four-way stretch to allow movement when the uniform is wet, customisable baselayer padding, specialist compression socks, gloves with new gripping material on the palm and between the fingers and new cleats for footwear.
