Taiwan’s Everest adds C4-based repellent to own lines

Taiwan’s Everest Textile has announced a collaboration with US-based 3M to use a new water and stain repellent additive in its own clothing line.

The China Post reported that Everest will debut an exclusive clothing range based on C4 chemistry that has been the culmination of many years of research at the US company.

According to Everest, C4 does not contain the chemicals perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) or perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) that are considered harmful, but leaves the fabric highly breathable.

The company expressed confidence in its functional textiles division and expects earnings to increase by between 10% and 20% this year.

Everest moved into sportswear in 2003 and launched a research centre to develop fabric coatings and laminating technology.
