Dupont expands Sorona application

20/09/2013

DuPont's fibre applications team highlighted three new applications for Sorona at Austria's Dornbirn Man-Made Fibres Congress: seamless, insulation and comfort stretch fibre.

“Our applications team conducts research and development along various parts of the textile value chain,” said Raj Kappali, business manager at DuPont Industrial Biosciences. “We are excited to highlight the value Sorona fibre offers in these additional segments.”

Joshua Lin, technical sales manager for DuPont Sorona, shared performance data highlighting the benefits of fabrics made with Sorona air textured yarn. For seamless garments, fabrics made with Sorona move moisture on the fabric surface to increase evaporation and cooling and keep garments from sticking to the skin. Results also show when exposed to 40 hours of UV rays, Sorona achieves a 3.0 pass rating for colourfastness.

The company highlighted a variety of insulation materials made with Sorona as an alternative to down and feather filling. It also demonstrated that Sorona provides stretch and recovery that keeps garments in good form.
