A degree in outdoor sales will address talent shortage, says OSV

In partnership with the Université de Savoie’s IUT Annecy Technical Institute, Outdoor Sports Valley (OSV) is launching a bachelor’s degree in sales in the sports industry, based in France, with the first intake in September 2014.

Organisers say the aim of the International Sales Specialists in Sports programme, which was put together by outdoor companies, is to train students to master techniques specific to the industry.

OSV said: “The growing number of companies in this area has increased the need for skilled individuals in sales, management and product development. OSV’s answer to this was to create education programs allowing outdoor sports companies to recruit qualified graduates who are well trained, outdoor sports enthusiasts and quickly operational.”

The Rhone-Alpes region is home to the European headquarters for several outdoor companies, including Salomon, Mavic, Patagonia, Petzl, adidas Outdoor, Fusalp, Eider, Millet and Rossignol.

OSV has 215 members, representing more than 200 brands and 4,000 jobs.
