Known for its focus on innovation, Taiwan’s textile companies are among the world leaders in developing performance textiles and the show attracts materials specifiers, designers and brand representatives from around the world.
As in recent years, ‘eco’ is a major theme, with textiles that require less water, energy and fewer chemicals to produce featuring prominently.
Texray Industrial is showing a laminated luminous fabric which, after absorbing sunlight or fluorescent light for 10 minutes, glows for more than two hours to keep users safe when doing exercises in the evening. The company is also presenting TCool, which blocks 70% of the sun’s rays making it 2.5°C cooler than regular polyester fabric and is used by Fila, says the company.
Kingwhale Industries, a supplier to Patagonia, the North Face and Jack Wolfskin, is promoting its low Impact Technology (LIT), which reduces water and energy usage. “One trend that is driving the market today is the demand for sustainable fabrics; fabrics that make better use of resources, reduce costs for our customers and provide value to their customers in the form of more planet-friendly apparel,” said the company. It is also showing new wicking and far infrared products.
Quiksilver and Marmot supplier Ea Shinn is presenting new microporous coatings, stretch fabrics and laminations, while Mean Feng is showing newly developed piece dyed fabric and micro fibre in gingham and stripes.
Far Eastern New Century, Ourtex, Singtex, YuYuang Textile, Chia Her, Sheico, Eclat and Erictex are also among exhibitors. A full Titas write-up will appear in the next edition of WSA.
