He succeeds Bernd Kullmann of Deuter, who stands down after a planned staged fade out but will remain board member for another year.
At the association’s board meeting on the first day of ISPO (February 5), 11 new members were welcomed: SportScheck, Transa Backpacking, Sport 2000, STMI (Sports Trade Marketing International), Engelhorn, Intersport, Sport Schuster, Singing Rock, Montane, Goldeck Textil, and Czech sporting goods association AVOZ.
The association says it will use its more representative set-up, including retailers, to put more focus on levels of physical activity by consumers. One of the major opportunities is support for the first European Week of Sport this year, during which a specific outdoor day has been confirmed for September 11.
