EC-backed Week of Sports planned for autumn
Visitors attending the ISPO Munich trade show last week were among the first to hear about a European Commission plan to launch the first Europe-wide Week of Sports this autumn.

The organisers were pleased with the increasing numbers of visitors from China, Turkey, Spain, the UK and the US. Over the four days, 80,000 visitors walked through the doors in Munich to see 2,500 exhibitors.

The German Ski Association (Deutscher Skiverband), announced a collaboration with the German Ski Instructor Association (Deutscher Skilehrerverband) and the Snowboard Association of Germany (Snowboard-Verband Deutschland) to promote winter sports more actively and to tap new target groups.

Klaus Dittrich, chairman of show organiser Messe Munchen said: “Health and Fitness is an important growth market. Since last year we have dedicated an entire exhibit hall to this trend to take into account the growing health consciousness in our society. This creates new potential for the sports industry. The extremely positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors shows that we have made the right decision.”
