World’s biggest footwear manufacturer continues to grow

Pou Chen Group, the largest branded athletic and casual footwear manufacturer in the world, has posted an 8% rise in sales for January 2014 to $712.6 million.

The Taiwan-based group makes shoes for Nike, adidas, Reebok, Asics, New Balance and Timberland and claims to be the only manufacturer to serve more than 60 brands simultaneously. The group can produce over 300 million pairs of shoes per year.

Its subsidiary, Yue Yuen, saw a 3% rise in sales for January to $709 million.

Group-owned athletic shoe retailer Pou Sheng, one of the biggest in China, saw sales decline 12% for the month to $173 million.

Pou Sheng operates over 3,200 retail outlets and sells brands including Nike, adidas, Li Ning, Kappa, Reebok, Puma, Converse, Hush Puppies, Nautica, Wolverine and Umbro.
