Nike has reshuffled its footwear division, promoting Michael Spillane to general manager of footwear, replaced by Angela Dong in his current role as general manager of Greater China.

The US sportswear company said Mr Spillane led the strategy to reset the market in China, delivering strong growth and successful brand positioning in one of Nike’s most important regions.

Mr Spillane has also held a range of positions including CEO of Converse and CEO of Umbro, where he oversaw its divestiture in 2012.

“Michael is a proven leader whose vision was instrumental in driving growth in Greater China,” said Jeanne Jackson. “As head of global footwear, we look forward to Michael continuing to drive our footwear agenda for consumers worldwide.”

Ms Dong will report to Elliott Hill, president of geographies and sale, in her new role. Ms Dong is currently CFO for Greater China.
