Dutch designer creates novel way to shine in Nike 10K race
A Dutch designer chose to showcase a new wearable technology collection by running in the recent We Run Amsterdam 10k event organised by Nike with a team of supporters wearing the garments.
Pauline van Dongen’s designs feature LED ribbons smartly integrated into the running tops and are a follow-up to a Light Jacket design she created in 2013 that came about as a collaboration with Philips Research.
She believes light in clothing should be seen as a new aesthetic feature, and will soon become as familiar as wearing different prints and textures.
The upcoming issue of WSA, published at the start of June, features an in-depth look at electrotextiles for clothing
