Tencel and Modal-maker Lenzing has scooped two prizes for sustainability at Austrian awards.
Its spun-dyed cellulose Modal COLOR made from beech wood was commended in the Energy Globe Awards. Lenzing claims they reduce the environmental burden in dyeing textiles by 80%.

The company also received the CSR Newcomer Trophy from TRIGOS for its compostable Tencel laces made in collaboration with shoe manufacturer Legero.

Robert van de Kerkhof, chief commercial officer, said: “All global megatrends show that sustainable business management must be the priority in the decades to come. Lenzing has been meeting these challenges for decades and is firmly committed to turning them into opportunities on the basis of its innovative strength.”
