Bergans to show off jacket made from Ecodear fabric

28/07/2015
Outdoor brand Bergans of Norway is preparing to unveil new lifestyle and active sport apparel collections at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City (August 5-8). The new products will be part of the brand’s spring-summer 2016 range.

Highlights include the new Eidfjord jacket, a lightweight, technical, three-layer waterproof breathable jacket using a fabric called Ecodear, a co-development project between Bergans and with Japanese textile group Toray, lanched earlier this year. It’s a 30 percent plant-based polyester, designed to reduce the amount of petroleum-based materials used in apparel production, and thus their overall carbon footprint.

For its part, the Cecilie singlet is one of the many new women’s specific clothing items Bergans is offering for 2016. Developed by Bergans professional adventurer Cecilie Skog, it’s made of organic cotton and spandex for indoor climbing, yoga, or just lounging around. As a travel piece, it washes well and maintains its softness and shape.
