Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), the Geneva-based non-profit organisation that works to promote greater sustainability in cotton production around the world, has welcomed Better Cotton being named as a key component in recent collections that a number of its member companies have brought to market.

“Some of the world’s biggest brands and retailers [are helping] to raise the profile of BCI both among consumers and throughout the supply chain,” the organisation said in a recent statement.

It named Marks & Spencer and Levi Strauss as two of the companies that have highlighted Better Cotton in recent weeks.

Marks & Spencer has teamed up with eco-activist Livia Firth to produce 25 pieces of sustainable clothing featuring responsibly sourced wool, leather and cotton. For its part, Levi Strauss has highlighted the importance of Better Cotton in a new collection called Wellthread.
