Skip Yowell was a “true pioneer” said the statement, adding “almost everyone in this office and around our industry has a story to share about Skip”.
Amy Roberts, OIA’s executive director, said: “My first memory of Skip is probably like so many other peoples first interactions with him. I was new at OIA and new to the industry and trying to find my place in the tribe where so many people already know one another and it takes an “outsider” a while to find where they fit. Skip was a member of the OIA Board of Directors and probably sensed my unease at my first OR and sought me out and with his kind, gentle nature put me at ease.
“I hope I can emulate his humble yet steady example of what it means to truly be a leader.”
