Nike has presented Back To The Future actor Michael J Fox with a limited edition pair of shoes based on the 30 year old film.

October 21 was marked as ‘Back to the Future Day’ as it was the date that the characters travelled forward to in their time machine, and one of the products they envisaged was self-trying shoes – made by Nike.

Nike CEO Mark Parker said: “We started creating something for fiction and we turned it into fact, inventing a new technology that will benefit all athletes.”

Nike continues to test the technology across multiple sports.

“By imagining the future, we create it. Product that comes alive, with on-demand comfort and support when you need, product that senses you and adapts to you is right around the corner,” added Mr Parker.

The 2015 Nike Mag collection will be available via auction, with all proceeds going to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
