Colombia has become an important fashion centre, say Italy’s machinery makers

The president of machinery association ACIMIT, Raffaella Carabelli, said: “In recent years, Colombia has become one of the main fashion centres on the continent. The sector stands out for its quality creations and innovation, especially in terms of design and materials used. Colombiatex is a benchmark trade fair in South America for the textile and textile machinery industry, and I’m convinced that it will represent an important window for Italian technology this year too.”
Thanks to the trade agreements with the European Union and the US, locally manufactured products have been able to penetrate important markets.
Italian machinery sales in Colombia reached €12 million in 2014, a 12% increase compared to the previous year. However, the pace has dipped slightly this year, reaching €4 million in the first half.
