First ISPO Award winners announced

The first ISPO award winners have emerged, with the others named over the next few days, in the lead-up to the main announcement at the Munich-based show (January 24 to 27).

German brand Ortovox has been awarded four prizes, including product of the year for its Avabag avalanche airbag system.

The 2L Andermatt Jacket from the Swisswool Black line was awarded Gold, as was the Peak alpine tour backpack. The back system made from Swiss wool, which can absorb almost 30 times more moisture than conventional back systems. Ortovox’s Pordoi freetouring jacket also won in the Ski category.

French brand Ternua has also been bestowed a gold award for its clothing made with recycled materials, such as recycled down, in the Outdoor and Fashion category. We look at Ternua’s products in WSA September-Oct 2015.
