Graphene provider calls Colmar collection “start of a revolution”
Graphene-based materials supplier Directa Plus has issued a message of congratulation to high-end outdoor brand Colmar on the launch at ISPO 2016 in Munich of a new clothing collection containing its Graphene Plus (G+) product.

Directa founder and chief executive, Giulio Cesareo, said: “This is the first time that Graphene Plus has been used in sportswear, and the first G+ textile product to reach the market, which represents a significant milestone in a sector that offers tremendous opportunity. We believe this is the beginning of a revolution in the world of sportswear and the textile industry as a whole. Colmar have proven that they are pioneers and we wish them all the success.”

The new Colmar clothing collection incorporates graphene, a nanotech material derived from graphite, which, the two Italian partner companies insist, will “significantly improve performance for the benefit of athletes, professionals and sports enthusiasts”.

Their contention is that Graphene Plus-enabled apparel will have an increased ability “to act as a filter between the body and the external environment, always ensuring the ideal temperature for the wearer”. Warmth produced by the human body is dispersed in warm temperatures and preserved and distributed evenly in cold temperatures. Fabrics treated with Graphene Plus are also electrostatic and bacteriostatic, giving them reduced friction with air and water.

Colmar’s inaugural G+ collection comprises ready-to-wear ski jackets (for men and women), ski suits, technical underwear and a polo shirt.
