Textile Exchange calls for feedback on Responsible Wool Standard

15/02/2016
The Textile Exchange has published the first draft of the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) and is asking for public feedback to ensure it meets its goals.

In a similar manner to the Responsible Down Standard, the RWS is intended to be a global benchmark for animal welfare and land management practices in sheep farming.

The goals are to provide the industry with the best possible tool to: recognise the best practices of farmers, ensure wool comes from responsibly treated sheep and from farms with a progressive approach to managing their land and provide a robust chain of custody system from farm to final product.

The standard has been written through a multi-stakeholder process, with representation from animal welfare groups, farmers, wool suppliers, brands and supply industry associations.

The Stakeholder Review will remain open for 60 days. Visit the RWS website for more.
