Flyknit to use only recycled polyester
Nike has announced all core yarn for its Flyknit styles will be made from recycled polyester from now on.

In the four years since the design’s launch, it has diverted 182 million plastic bottles from landfill and the company now owns 500 Flyknit-related patents.

The knitted manufacturing technique has also prevented 3.5 million pounds of waste, said Nike, as the shoes reduce waste by 60% compared with traditional cut and sew techniques.

The design has been in development for more than 10 years and Nike hopes it will help it move away from labour intensive factories in the Far East and enable reshoring.
