Skins suspends crowdfunding scheme

09/05/2016
Sportswear brand Skins has paused its equity crowdfunding campaign after large investors expressed their interest in obtaining a “substantial shareholding” in the brand.

Skins, who specialises in compressionwear, launched the crowdfunding scheme in February on UK site Seedrs and Equitise, an Australian platform. The target was to raise £2 million.

“For the past four weeks, we have been in engaged in discussions with a number of investor parties seeking to gain a substantial shareholding in the Skins Group through a significantly larger investment to what we have been currently seeking,” a company statement said.

“The opportunity of a larger investment in the Skins Group will lead the company to lower debt whilst at the same time fund more significant investments to grow the business,” the statement posted on the crowdfunding campaign page added.

We will be discussing the idea of crowdfunding in more detail in the next issue of WSA magazine which will be available soon.
