Belgian designer to help launch Under Armour Sportswear brand

Sports brand Under Armour is to appoint Belgian fashion designer Tim Coppens as creative director of a new clothing brand called Under Armour Sportswear (UAS), fashion media have reported.

Quoting Under Armour’s senior vice-president for sportswear, Ben Pruess, reports have said the company believes Mr Coppens will bring “an authentic and credible voice” to its efforts to place sports apparel in a fashion context, and that its UAS collections will be for “lifestyle” rather than for sports participation.

New York-based Tim Coppens has described the task in hand as finding a new way to define sportswear today.
