H&M launches sportswear range
17/06/2016
The range includes T-Shirts, running shorts, jackets and leggings and makes use of high-performance textiles to create breathable garments that dry quickly and optimise performance. H&M has used recycled polyester in the range to show that high-performance sportswear can be sustainable.
The garments were tested by members of the Swedish Olympic team, who gave H&M advice on design, performance and wearability. The brand has designed the team’s outfits for the Olympics and Paralympics in Rio, including the opening ceremony uniform and some competition pieces.
“This is a collection about performance with great style and the input of the Swedish Olympic team has been invaluable in the creation process,” said Pernilla Wohlfahrt, design and creative director at H&M.
H&M is the latest fashion retailer to branch out into the sportswear market. Topshop launched the Ivy Park collection from Beyonce in 2015 and in February 2016 Spanish retailer Zara launched Zara Sport.
