Vaude collection to be nearly free of PFCs
German outdoor brand Vaude has announced that nearly all of the items in its spring/summer 2017 collection will have PFC-free water repellent finishes.

"The most recent test results have convinced us. They evince outstanding water repellency, so we will therefore be transitioning a majority of the collection," said Vaude CEO Antje von Dewitz.

95% of all apparel in the collection will be manufactured without the use of PFCs, according to the brand. Of all waterproof and water-repellent apparel, 87% will have a PFC-free finish, a 29% increase on last year’s offering. It hopes to eliminate PFCs completely from its apparel by 2020.

The brand’s in-house specialists have carried out performance tests on various PFC-free durable water repellent (DWR) alternatives. Those that have passed the extensive process successfully are being used for all of Vaude’s rain products.
