Thread, a Pittsburgh-based start-up that makes fabric from recycled plastic bottles, has hired Bill Besselman as executive vice president.

Mr Besselman has extensive experience in the apparel industry, having most recently served as vice president of connected fitness strategy and integration at sportswear brand Under Armour.
“He's here to help us build Thread into the preeminent purpose-driven brand in the industry,” said Ian Rosenberger, Thread founder and CEO.

The company, which collects plastic bottles in Haiti and Honduras, recently announced a partnership with outdoor brand Timberland which would see Thread fabric used in the footwear and bags from the brand’s spring collection.
