Thule sales rise despite dip in the Americas

01/11/2016
Swedish outdoor group Thule reported sales of $161 million in the third quarter of 2016, a 1.7% increase on the same period last year.

This increase came despite a 4% drop in global sales in September and a significant decline in sales in the Americas.

Thule said the 8.8% drop in sales in the Americas was primarily due to recent retail bankruptcies and cautious orders by bicycle retailers.

The company has begun the second stage of a major distribution project in the US following the relocation of its distribution centre to the East of the country. It will be fully operational in early 2017.

There was better news in the Europe & ROW (rest of world) region, where sales grew 9% in the quarter, driving sales for the year so far 11% higher than at the same point in 2015.
