During the university’s fashion week, Woolmark sponsored the Next Generation Award, which encouraged students to create a collection using Australian Merino wool.
Kenta Nishimura was chosen as the winner, with the judging panel praising his creative use of Merino wool, as well as the way in which his design maximised the natural benefits of the material.
It also organised for students to attend a Wool Appreciation Course and a presentation by Agi & Sam, former finalists in the menswear category of the International Woolmark Prize.
“We greatly appreciate the opportunity to get exposed to the latest innovations of wool and learn about it, thanks to this partnership with The Woolmark Company,” said Bunka Fashion Graduate University professor Shinichi Kushigemachi. “This award motivated many graduate school students to use wool for their designs and their interest in wool was highly increased.”
