Iran is taking steps to revive its apparel industry

09/08/2017
The government in Iran is planning to establish a new industrial park dedicated to apparel manufacturing in the Tehran Province, according to local media reports.

The aim of the development is to reduce imports, boost domestic production and make clothing manufactured in Iran more competitive.

The reports said the land in the Fashafouyeh year has already been purchased. As well as local manufacturers, it will also be home to Italian and Turkish apparel producers.

The creation of the new industrial park is the latest stage in government-led efforts to increase domestic production and create jobs in order to revive Iran’s apparel industry.

Iran’s deputy minister of cooperatives, labor and social welfare, Hamid Kalantari, has said the apparel industry has the highest job creation potential among all the country’s industries.
