Applications invited for cotton researcher award

09/02/2018
The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) has invited applications for the 2018 ICAC Cotton Researcher of the Year Award.

The award was launched in 2009 to highlight the importance of research to the cotton industry. It is open to researchers from universities and public sector research organisations are also able to apply either directly or through the heads of their institutions. Only researchers from ICAC member countries are eligible.

The winner will be chosen by an anonymous, independent panel, consisting of five exports from at least four countries. The nominees will be judged based on evidence of: awards/recognitions (National and International); publications (books, chapters, peer-reviewed papers, non-reviewed papers); citations; conferences and presentations; major innovative and impactful achievements; and contributions to the cotton sector.

The ICAC Cotton Researcher of the Year will be announced on May 1. They will receive a shield, an honorarium of $1,000 and a certificate at the 2018 ICAC Plenary Meeting, which will be held in Cote d’Ivoire from December 2-7. They will also be invited to make a special presentation during the event, explaining their contributions to cotton research and their vision for the future.

The application form can be accessed here. The deadline for applications is March 31.
