Last member of Dassler family leaves adidas

16/02/2018
Sportswear manufacturer adidas has announced that Frank Dassler, a descendent of the founder of Puma, retired from the company at the end of January.

He was most recently head of adidas’ legal department and will remain closely associated with the company even in retirement.

Mr Dassler is the grandson of Rudolf Dassler, founder of Puma. A dispute between Rudolf Dassler and his brother, Adolf, in the 1940s led to the separate founding of Puma and adidas.

Frank Dassler was appointed president of Brussels-based lobbying group for sports goods manufacturers the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI) at the end of 2017.
