Textile chemicals manufacturer Arkema has partnered with French higher education institution the École Polytechnique to launch a new project aimed at developing the materials of tomorrow.

The partners have launched the ‘Design and Modelling of Innovative Materials’ international and research chair. It will initially be held by Julie Dani, research director at the École Polytechnique’s solid mechanics laboratory.

The aim of this programme it to address challenges related to energy, technology, industry and the environment. Its focus will include polymeric materials, thermoplastic composites and adhesives, as well as optimisation of processes and mechanical properties.

The five-year partnership will also target the establishment of an innovative research programme and will look to bring together researchers from different fields by organising scientific symposia and seminars.
