ICAC plenary meeting underway in Côte d’Ivoire
The 77th plenary meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) is taking place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. It runs from December 2-6.

The theme of this year’s event is: Cotton Challenges: Smart and Sustainable Solutions.

The opening greeting on December 2 was delivered by Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly (pictured), the host country’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

There are more than 300 people attending the meeting, with more than 160 travelling from overseas.

As is tradition at the plenary meeting, ICAC recognised its Cotton Researcher of the Year. The recipient for 2018 was Dr Baohong Zhang, a professor at East Carolina University in the US. He was chosen by an independent panel of experts and receives an honorarium of $1,000.
