Rocketing orders for Vietnam’s sportswear manufacturers

Taiwanese sportswear manufacturers Shinkong Textile and De Licacy Industrial have received between 10% and 20% more orders from US brands for the next six months as US companies seek to avoid increasing tariffs.

Shinkong, which supplies to Patagonia and Nike, reported a 25% increase in sales over the first six months of the year.

Its president, David Chiu, said: “Our top five clients have increased orders by more than 10% this year.”

De Licacy’s sales grew 18% over the first eight months compared with the same period last year.

A spokesperson told local press that its main clients, including Under Armour, have increased orders by 20%.

US-based companies, worried about the impact of US-China tariff increases, are looking to source a greater percentage of clothing and footwear from China’s neighbours.
