Classic Nike pieces recreated with sustainable materials and methods

Under the brand’s Move to Zero umbrella, Nike has developed an apparel collection that blends recycled polyester with sustainable cotton and meets a 90 percent or better pattern efficiency.

Included in the capsule collection, which will come out this summer, is an unlined jacket with 100 percent recycled polyester plain weave fabrication. Its drawcords and zippers are made from Nike Grind — materials  like rubber, foam, fibre, leather and textile blends recovered in the footwear manufacturing and recycling process.

The brand said they are “applying a sustainability mindset to Nike classic apparel pieces”, which include a full-zip hoodie, crew, t-shirt, dress, joggers and shorts comprising at least 60 percent organic and recycled fabrics. Organic cotton used in the collection is said to require less water and fewer chemicals.
