California jacket wins gold at UK outdoor conference

The sustainable Ghost Shadow Hoody, from California-based Mountain Hardwear, has won gold in the clothing category at this year’s UK Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) Awards. 

The jacket uses 100% recycled ripstop nylon and recycled trims and is insulated with 100% and 70% post-consumer recycled PrimaLoft Eco synthetic insulation, according to Steve Adams, product line manager of outerwear at Mountain Hardwear. 

Awarded at the recent OIA conference in Cheshire, UK, the jacket was also recognised for eco benefits such as using 52% less water and reducing carbon emissions by 39% during the manufacturing process.
