Deal with Fiberpartner expands PrimaLoft into staple fibres

Material technology provider PrimaLoft and Fiberpartner, a supplier of staple fibres, have signed an agreement allowing Fiberpartner to develop the use of PrimaLoft Bio technology in multiple new industries.

According to Fiberpartner CEO, Thomas Wittrup, the company is seeing an increasing demand for biodegradable polyester and that the staple fibres his company will make using PrimaLoft Bio will be developed to supplement regular polyester fibre for a range of sustainable applications.

PrimaLoft said its technology is made from biodegradable, 100% recycled fibres that break down when exposed to specific environments. It “enhances fibres to be more attractive to naturally-occurring microbes found in these environments,” so that the fibres maintain their structure throughout use, and biodegrade when exposed to the naturally-occurring microorganisms found in environments such as landfills, oceans and wastewater systems.
