KakaoTalk-powered eco brand primed for SK success
Makers Prime, an in-house clothing brand launched in 2019 by Kakao Makers (a build-to-order online market, established in 2016 by popular South Korean mobile messenger operator KakaoTalk), will showcase its environmentally conscious fashion items on a KakaoTalk sister app, Kakao Style, from November 9 to 17.
Kakao Style is known for its fashion content curation for KakaoTalk users.
The flagship product is knitwear made from recycled PET bottles (20 bottles per knit), but “eco nylon pants” (produced using leftover nylon), “bio slacks” (created using biologically produced Sorona yarn) and “less water denim” (which, according to the company, saves up to 80% of water in the production process) items will also be available to purchase. Orders will be handled by both Kakao Style and Makers Prime.
Kakao Style’s featuring of the collection comes as Makers Prime issued a press release on November 10, which described its desire to rebrand as an explicitly eco-friendly initiative that champions ethical consumption in all aspects, from material production through to packaging and eventual upcycling.
