Local media have reported that South Korean-owned Castelbajac is currently developing an antibacterial performance fabric “that kills covid-19”.

The company plans to roll out the technology across all product lines launching in 2021.

A Castelbajac spokesperson said: “‘Antibacterial’ does not mean the total elimination of viruses, but antibacterial fabrics can prevent them from proliferating.”

Castelbajac was originally founded as an avant-garde fashion label by French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac in 1978, but since being purchased by Hyungji in 2016 is now predominantly a Korean golfwear brand.
