Taekwang shows new spandex brand in Seoul
South Korean textile and chemical company Taekwang Industrial recently debuted a new brand of spandex, named Elafit, at the Preview in Seoul (PIS) trade fair.
The name Elafit is reportedly a compound of the words “elasticity” and “fit”.
A spokesperson for Taekwang said that the product has “excellent” elasticity and can be both dyed and heat treated at a high temperature, making it suitable for functional sportswear fabrics that need to maintain good elasticity.
The Seoul-based company will “aggressively” target the domestic market following the PIS show, local media said.
Elafit marks the first time Taekwang has innovated its original spandex product, which was the first of its kind to be commercialised in South Korea 42 years ago, in 1979.
