PrimaLoft revamps PURE to offer further CO2 savings
Materials specialist PrimaLoft is launching an updated version of its PrimaLoft PURE renewable manufacturing technology, which reduces carbon emissions further, by up to 70% compared with “traditional production methods”.

When it launched in summer 2019, PURE (Produced Using Reduced Emissions) reduced CO2 emissions by 48% compared with the usual process, partly though using 100% post-consumer recycled fibres but also because the technology was engineered to bond through exposure to air, instead of the heat from an oven.

Mike Joyce, CEO of PrimaLoft, (pictured) said: “PrimaLoft PURE manufacturing technology is a major step forward in our company's purpose to unleash the full potential of people, products and the planet. It extends our Relentlessly Responsible mission further into the process of how we make our products.

“We prioritise each material, recipe, process and piece of equipment used with the goal to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining our product quality and performance characteristics.”

Using recycled materials means it has saved 16 million kg of CO2 since 2015, it said. Three new products are being launched next year are: PrimaLoft Gold Insulation PURE, PrimaLoft Silver Insulation PURE and PrimaLoft Black Insulation PURE.

The first products using the latest version of PrimaLoft PURE will be in stores from autumn/winter 2022 from brands including Patagonia, Bergans of Norway, Alpkit, Kodiak and Viking.
