Promise of new perspectives at ISPO Munich

The organisers of the ISPO event in Munich, which will next take place from November 28-30, have announced ‘New Perspectives on Sport’ as their new motto for the exhibition.

They expect 1,500 exhibitors from 55 countries to take part. In addition, visitors can expect a conference with top-class speakers on sports clothing, footwear and equipment, presentation of the latest product trends, networking events and prominent athletes make guest appearances.
“It’s clear ahead of the event that we need new perspectives on the market, consumers, retail and sport itself,” said the head of the ISPO group, Tobias Gröber.

On the first day of the event, the organisers award the ISPO Cup to a company that has made “an outstanding positive contribution to society”. This year the cup will be presented to Patagonia following the decision by company founder, Yvon Chouinard, to transfer his shares in the company in September to two foundations that will use all the profits that are not reinvested in the company to fight against global warming and for nature conservation.

Athletes visiting ISPO this time will include Olympic tennis gold medalist Alexander Zverev, cyclist and ski mountaineer Anton Palzer, decathlon Olympic gold medalist, Christian Schenk, and Paralympics medal winner Denise Schindler.

Other athletes who have confirmed their attendance include former alpine skier Felix Neureuther, mountaineer Kazuja Hiraide, former surfing world champion Björn Dunkerbeck, and the Swiss kiteboard world champion and freerider Maxime Chabloz.
