Zipper manufacturer Riri acquired
Swiss textile machinery manufacturer Oerlikon has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Riri, a provider of coated metal accessories including zips, buttons and rivets for clothing, bags and other products.
Both companies expect the transaction to close in the first quarter 2023, subject to regulatory approvals and standard closing conditions.
Executive chairman of Oerlikon, Michael Suess, said Riri was “highly complementary to our existing business”.
For his part, Riri chief executive, Renato Usoni, said the deal would allow the company to accelerate its growth. He also said access to technology such as Oerlikon’s PVD (physical vapour deposition), a thin-film coating solution, would help it make its components in a more environmentally responsible way.
