Messe Frankfurt, Vietrade to launch Vietnam fair next year
Trade show organiser Messe Frankfurt and local trade promotion agency Vietrade will launch the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT) in Ho Chi Minh City between February 28 and March 1.
The partners signed a memorandum of understanding back in March.
Sportswear is an especially fast-growing category in the market, they said, with categories like swimwear, workwear and casualwear already well-established.
“VIATT will capture the essence of [our more than 500,000-member strong Texpertise network] in one platform – a diverse, one-stop sourcing event for buyers across all categories, from garments, fabrics, yarns and fibres to textile machinery, technical textiles and nonwovens, and everything in between," said Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong managing director, Wendy Wen.
Deputy director general at Vietrade, Le Hoang Tai, added: “Vietnam is one of the world’s leading textile producers and exporters and [is] going from strength to strength as one of Southeast Asia’s manufacturing hubs.
"Together with Messe Frankfurt, we are excited to help international fairgoers unlock the potential of the country’s fast-growing textile market. Ho Chi Minh City’s accessibility, and Vietnam’s proximity to other leading textile-producing nations such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, China and India, make it the logical venue to host an event of this nature.”
The event will be held inside the city’s Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center.
