ITMA visitors surpass 2019 figures

Quadrennial textile machinery trade event ITMA, which closed on June 14 after seven full days in Milan, ultimately counted 111,000-plus visitors from 143 countries, each of whom had the opportunity to encounter 1,709 exhibitors’ displays, organisers have reported.

Most hailed from host country Italy (29%), followed by Turkey, India and Germany (6% each), France (4%) and Brazil, which rounded out the top six with 3% of the total.

High-ranking delegates included Uzbekistan president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, plus India’s minister of state for textiles, Darshana Jardosh.

Chief executive of Hesse-headquartered machinery manufacturer Karl Mayer, Arno Gärtner, called the show “once again the place to be for decision-makers and experts from all over the world”, citing “an unbelievable number of intensive discussions with international customers”.

CEMATEX, the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers, the organising body behind ITMA, called the fair “a great success”, in the words of its president, Ernesto Maurer.

Mr Maurer told how the exhibition had “surpassed all expectations” and even exceeded 2019 visitor levels, when it was then hosted by the city of Barcelona.

The next ITMA is due to be held in Hanover, Germany, from September 16 to 22, 2027.
