Chief executive of WFSGI announces departure

The World Federation of Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) has announced that Robbert De Kock is to step down as its chief executive. He has held the role for 16 years.

The Bern-based representative body for the sports industry said Mr De Kock had been instrumental in helping it grow membership and revenue streams and in aligning the global sporting goods industry with the world’s leading organisations in sports and health.

This work included dedicated projects with FIFA, the World Health Organisation and the International Olympic Committee.

Mr De Kock said developing a new strategic plan for WFSGI and signing a new supplier agreement with the International Olympic Committee had been career highlights. He said: “The organisation is thriving. It’s the perfect moment for me to embrace the next phase of my life.”

WFSGI’s vice-president for external affairs, Emma Zwiebler, will become the organisation’s interim chief executive on November 1. She is a former international badminton player and is a long-serving director of the sport’s governing body in Europe.
