Intertextile Apparel saw nearly 20% rise in overseas attendees

The autumn edition of trade show Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics (Intertextile Apparel) saw a 17% rise in international visitors versus March’s fair, according to co-organiser Messe Frankfurt (Hong Kong).

Whereas spring’s event celebrated China’s “back-to-business mentality” post-covid, this latest exhibition welcomed 95,000 buyers from 117 different countries and regions. They were received by just under 4,000 suppliers, an increase of roughly 33% on March.

Key launches over the three days include Austrian fibre producer Lenzing’s debut of Ecovero with Refibra technology, plus US manufacturer The Lycra Company’s announcement of new elastane products Lycra Adaptiv Black and Lycra Adaptiv Xtra Life. Lenzing’s pavilion alone stretched to encompass 43 of its downstream supply partners, Messe Frankfurt told us.

Sportstextiles was also pleased to attend the official press conference that heralded new Ho Chi Minh City show Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT), during which Vietrade director-general Vu Ba Phu described how he hoped VIATT would serve to “supplement” Chinese producers’ sourcing once doors open in February.

“This edition has served as a fertile ground for business, with participants universally expressing a renewed sense of optimism about prospects in the China market,” commented Messe’s general manager in Hong Kong, Wilmet Shea.

“We’ve seen an influx of discerning, quality-orientated buyers from around the world, confirming that our exhibitors are not just meeting market demand, but shaping it.

“The fair continues to not just be an event,” she added, “but a cornerstone to the global textile market; a meeting point where business and innovation intersect.”
